The lack of birds continued today. No migrants at all, and no photos worth posting.
I did find a worthwhile spider and a few other bugs.

American Toad.  I’ve never seen a Toad like this before.

Fall migration seems to be slow this year. I didn’t see any migrants today, and damn few in the last few days. Hopefully, we’ll get some action soon.
Bug hunting was slow, and I quit early in the heat and humidity.

This is a first year White Eyed Vireo.

This Catbird is molting.

A small flock of Song Sparrows was foraging on the path.

Many Common Yellowthroats breed at Wooton.

This Eastern Phoebe posed very nicely.

Another cloudy day, but it started to clear after a couple of hours. The migrating birds still aren’t around in numbers. A cuckoo saved the day.
I had to work, so the bug hunting was curtailed.

Indigo Buntings nest at Governor Bridge in large numbers.

I saw very few interesting birds today, so this Yellow Billed Cuckoo was a welcome sight.

It was cloudy this morning, and I wanted to try another place, but I had to work around mid-morning, so I went back to Governor Bridge. It was another slow and disappointing morning, with no migrants, but the bugs were somewhat cooperative. We need some northerly winds to speed things up.

I don’t usually see Great Egrets at Governor Bridge, but this one has been around for several days.

It was cloudy this morning, but good enough to give the birds a try. I started with a flash, and saw very little for quite a while. When the Sun began to show through the clouds, a few birds showed. The warblers still aren’t arriving in any numbers.
Bug hunting was better than yesterday.

Yet another juvenile Indigo Bunting.

This Ruby Throated Hummingbird was very surprised to find a moth in her favorite flower.

I hear Eastern Towhees often, but haven’t photographed one in a while.

I was hoping yesterday’s good luck would continue today, but it was not to be. A large group of birders was present, and no one was finding much of interest.
I went looking for bugs after a few hours, and there wasn’t much going on with them, either.

Well, the warblers started arriving today, for sure. I’ll be spending a lot of time at Governor Bridge until it’s over. Aside from warblers, I found a nice snake and a few other birds, including more hummingbirds.
There wasn’t much in the way of bugs.

This Scarlet Tanager was a nice find.

My hummingbird obsession continues.

This Northern Parula is probably a migrant, but they do breed here.

Red Eyed Vireos also breed here.

Blue Gray Gnatcatchers will be migrating soon.

This is probably a juvenile Chestnut Sided Warbler.

I’ve seen this Ribbon Snake before, but this is the first picture I’ve been able to get.

Hummingbird Clearwings were feeding right alongside the hummingbirds.

We’ve been really lucky with the weather. I got to Governor Bridge around dawn, as usual, and headed for my favorite bird spots. It was a little slow, and I spent too much time chasing hummingbirds, again.
The bugs were very cooperative, and I took way too many pictures.

This appears to be a Yellow Warbler. A sign that migration is beginning.

This Flycatcher was hanging out with the hummingbirds.

I saw a lot of Blue Gray Gnatcatchers today.

This White Eyed Vireo was very vocal.

It’s been a while since I found a Red Bellied Woodpecker.

I had an appointment this morning, so I went bug hunting in the local park before, then to Governor Bridge afterwards. I missed the prime birding time, but I did well enough.
I didn’t have enough time for a thorough bug hunt, but I’ll make up for it tomorrow.

This is a juvenile Indigo Bunting, the plainest of all birds.

I think this is the first Great Egret I’ve seen at Governor Bridge.

I’m getting spoiled with this wonderful weather. I wanted to get another chance at the hummingbirds (Obsession?) so I went back to Governor Bridge this morning.
It was very active, maybe a precursor to migration. I found some good birds early, then tried for some more hummingbirds.
I abbreviated the bug hunt again due to heat and time, but I found a few anyway.

This Blue Gray Gnatcatcher found a nice caterpillar.

I haven’t gotten a good look at a Red Eyed Vireo in a while.

This Indigo Bunting is molting his tail feathers.

I think I did a little better with Ruby Throated Hummingbirds today.

This could be one of several Flycatchers.

This Prothonotary Warbler is another bid I haven’t seen in a while.
