Another perfect Spring day and I was at Wooton by 6:30. I had the whole place to myself for most of the morning.
I found a few birds on the lower trail, then spent some time with the bugs on the upper trail.
In the afternoon I went to Quiet Waters and found a few more bugs.

Common Loon at Lake Artemesia
The weather was nearly perfect today, so I set out for Lake Artemesia early.
I didn’t find as many species as I’d hoped, but I saw a few nice birds.
Bug hunting was limited.
Yellow Billed Cuckoo at Governor Bridge Natural Area
I had planned a trip to LAke Artemesia this morning, but it began raining shortly after I left.
I pulled into Governor Bridge to wait out the rain, which took about 45 minutes.
The birds were active, and I found a few good ones.
The bug hunt was slow.
Blackpoll Warbler at Governor Bridge Natural Area
Another chilly morning. I had planned to go to Greenbury Point, but the USNA graduation week crowd made me change my mind.
There was a fair amount of early activity, but it was overcast and the birds were high in the foliage. I did manage a few decent shots anyway.
The bug hunt was slow until the Sun came out in mid-morning.
Flycatcher at Wooton Wetlands Preserve
It was another cool day, so I headed back to Wooton, where I had lost my phone yesterday. I knew the area it had to be in, and was lucky enough to find it quickly.
I walked the entire loop, seeing very few birds, and yesterday’s bug bonanza wasn’t repeated.
American Redstart at Wooton’s Wetland Preserve
It was quite cool this morning, and was wearing a light jacket when I got to Wooton around 6:30.
Many birds were active, and I got some good shots almost immediately.
I had planned to walk the upper trail, but the bugs distracted me.
Blue Grosbeak at Governor Bridge Natural Area
It was a lot cooler today, and I wasn’t sure where to go, so the truck drove me back to Governor Bridge.
After a promising start, the action died as quickly as yesterday, but I got a few decent shots.
A short bug hunting trip was productive also.
Indigo Bunting at Governor Bridge Natural Area
I returned to Governor Bridge this morning and met Graeme, as well as 20 or so birders taking in the sights.
There was good activity early, but it tapered off quickly, and we went bug hunting, with some success.
