Horned Grebe at Possum Point

Although it was windy and cool this morning. it was a big improvement over the last couple of wet and blustery days.
I decided to give Possum Point a try in hopes of finding some early Winter birds, and had a little luck. It’s an exposed location, so when I’d had my fill of cold, I went to Quiet Waters where you’re more protected from the wind. Not a great day, but I did find a couple of good birds.

Great Blue Heron

I spooked this Great Blue Heron, who flew into a colorful tree not far away.

I saw this pair of Wood Ducks fly into the cove, and had to walk several hundred yards to get in position for a good shot.

Mallard

Mallard

This Black Duck seems to be confused about who to hang out with.

Horned Grebe

This Horned Grebe was foraging near the shore, as so many of them do.
